The Dodgers and Giants split their season ending series without the normal fanfare that this rivalry presents.  The Jints took the opener 3-2 behind 8 strong innings of 2 run ball from Bobby Bolin.  Willie Mays hit his 10th homer and Tom Haller hit his 8th.  The Dodgers took the next 2 to clinch the division.  A 5-4 win in 11 innings saw Adrian Beltre go 2 for 4 with 4 RBI including his 8th homer of the year.  The clincher saw LA blow out their rivals to the norht 12-5.  44 year old Warren Spahn took the loss for the Giants in his final game in the majors.  Mays finished the season hitting .311 with 11 homers and 29 RBI's with hopes of making a bid for his 2nd consecutive MVP award.

LA wins the division by 1 game over the resurgent Astros, who have been on a tear.  Houston will get stake claim to the 2nd wild card spot.
